Firearm Permit Certification Course - 14 hours (2-day training)
Please call to register for the course. Classroom training (1st day) are held Monday through Friday @ 9am (must pick one day). Upon successful completion of the classroom training, students will be scheduled to train and qualify at the shooting range. Range training (2nd day) are scheduled every Sunday @ 12pm.
This course is a mandatory training class to apply for the Exposed Firearm Permit through the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs - Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). Must be 18 years old w/ current BSIS Security Guard Card. If you do not possess a current BSIS Security Guard Card you may apply for the Security Guard Card and Exposed Firearm Permit at the same time. Proof of US Citizenship or permanent residency. Must bring original document and provide a copy. No felony or prohibitive misdemeanor convictions. Classroom training must be taken within 30 days of the firearm qualification day.
Fees Involved:
$150 (Initial qualification & primary caliber on application included)
$114 (Live Scan Fingerprinting Fee; includes DOJ, FBI, Firearm Eligibility Check; and Rolling Fee; cash only)
$80 (BSIS Application Fee; check or money order only; payable to BSIS)
Total Fees: $344 (Course fee; Live Scan Fingerprinting fee; State Application fee)
Other fees: $20 (each additional caliber added to your application; cash only)
$15 (each firearm rental; cash only)
Course fee does not include firearm rental & ammunition costs)
Students must bring the following range equipment required:
Eyes & ear protection; firearm (revolver or semi-automatic); 2 speed loaders or 2 magazines; firearm & magazine holster; 100 rounds of ammunition for the initial qualifying caliber; 50 rounds for each additonal caliber(s). Only approved firearms will be allowed at the range. Firearms will be inspected by the rangemaster. Firearm rentals are available.

Firearm Permit Renewal
(2-hour refesher, written exam + range qualification)

Fee: $75 (includes 1st caliber); additional caliber-$20 (does not include firearm rental; ammunition cost and applicable BSIS renewal fee)
